I'm Michael, a costume designer, costume shop manager, and professor of costuming construction based in Boston. Before my transition into costuming full time I spent 25 years in management.

I've been a resident of the theater world for 38 years and counting. I've created, critiqued, consulted, taught, managed, and directed.

Biography

Currently the Costume Shop Manager for the University of Massachusetts, Boston Performing Arts Department. A graduate of UMass Boston in 2017 with a BA in Theater Arts, summa cum laude, Michael has since worked within the department encouraging a wide variety of students and talent to reach their full potential and helping the department produce several types of performances. These performances cover Theatrical, Staged Readings, Musical, Operas, and Dance productions. In his time at UMass Boston Michael has been published several times both online and in print.

The variations of performances that Michael has done has provided him skills is several areas of the costuming world, including pattern making, costume crafts, millinery work, period and cultural research, fabric dying and painting, and a variety of both machine and hand stitching processes. KCACTF (Kennedy Center American Theater College Festival Region 1) has twice recognized Michael’s work both in costuming and his work with his students.

Michael has costuming and teaching credits outside of UMass Boston having worked both with the Boston Midsummer Opera and the Homeschool Association of Middle Georgia.
